Deadlines & Process

Individual returns (Form 1040) are due April 15. An automatic six-month extension (to Oct 15) is available — but taxes owed are still due April 15, not October.

E-filed returns with direct deposit are processed in 21 days or less in most cases. Paper returns take 6–8 weeks.
